John Quincy Adams: The Sixth President of the United States
John Quincy Adams was the sixth President of the United States, serving from 1825 to 1829. He was born in Massachusetts in 1767 and was the son of John Adams, who was also a U.S. President. Adams was well-educated and fluent in multiple languages, including French, German, and Dutch. Prior to becoming President, he served as a diplomat, Secretary of State, and a member of the House of Representatives. During his Presidency, Adams supported infrastructure improvements and the expansion of the United States through the acquisition of Florida. He was also a strong opponent of slavery and advocated for the right of free speech. After his Presidency, Adams served as a member of Congress until his death in 1848.
